I've been doing some LJ updates since I just renewed my paid account, and this includes my filters.

I just posted to my kink filter, where I talk about my adult/BDSM/kinky/relationship/sex life.  if you are not on already and so can't see that message, but you would like to be, please let me know here and I will add you if I feel comfortable doing so. Also, as I reiterated there, please let me know if you want off! All comments are screened.

ugh.

The stress of the move, and all the unpacking that needs to be done. My body still hurting from the car accident. Waiting for Grandmaman to pass, getting tear filled calls from my mother telling me she keeps asking why it isn't over yet, why is it taking so long? Problems with break-ins. The store's grand opening celebrations and all of the hiring and terminations going on, plus insurance snafus, 401K crap (they were based in Galveston- oops)... An irregular schedule. Difficulty with finances. My wife starting a new business. One partner being a full time, and stressed, and also working, student. The other being away for work more often than not. His wife having been away for two weeks.  My brother's wedding plans being shoved in my face as a show of what normal is.

I'm just tired. Exhausted. Want to crawl under a rock, want to cry, to scream. Needing to be held and told that it'll all be ok.  I'm holding it together remarkably well, considering. But I am just so tired.

Because some of you requested it... and your responses to the screen comment

Tell me story, a secret, a confession, a fear, a love - anything. Post honestly. Post twice if you'd like... hell, however many times you want. Comments are screened, and you can do so anonymously, and remain so.

Then put this in your LJ to see what your friends have to say.

I have so far refrained from posting in any depth a reflection/response as to the current situation involving ashkes_muse and sylvari, and the involvement of my wife pinksbrat and myself, mainly because I do not think that LiveJournal is the appropriate venue for such a discussion.  I am more than willing to discuss my perspective on what has occurred, which differs from the perspectives that have been offered publicly in this forum.  Each person involved seems to have a very different take on what has/is going on, and what has been said and done, and I would ask people to consider all sides of the situation.  Again, I am willing to discuss my perspective privately with anyone who has questions or concerns. I can be contacted at mld01006 on YIM.

Thank you to[profile] jscrashad for coming over to help me calm down from the cellar shock Friday afternoon.
Thank you to [profile] blacstag for spending yesterday evening helping [profile] pinksbrat and I sort through all sorts of sodden and destroyed stuff, dealing not only with the disgusting flith but with both of our emotional overloads at losing so much that meant a lot to us. The damage keep piling up- so many college memories, so much teaching and grad school related material, so many irreplaceable things like autographed playbills and cards from our wedding.  I can't imagine how I would have dealt without him there to help.  Thank you also to [profile] auntiemame67 for providing company today, helping me keep my mind off this mess, and for making me feel welcome in her home.

We descend once again tomorrow for the last of inventory- the Christmas items. It's the part I'm dreading most.

So much wet and ruined stuff in our basement.  Busted water main. Two feet of water.  Knocked our rubbermaid bins over and got our stuff wet, especially what was in cardboard.  Almost every single one of our hard cover Harry Potters- we bought two sets so we could save them for our kids- were ruined. Tons of books ruined.  Framed paintings ruined. Notes, student papers, records from my first 4 years of grad school ruined.  A woodburning my aunt did for me in 1986 ruined and warped. Christmas stuff ruined.  Ugh. Everything else wet and covered with debris.

It was the water main on the city side that busted, and so our itemizations will go there and... nowhere, I'm thinking?

But the biggest thing that I keep reminding myself is that it's just stuff.
Just stuff. No one was hurt.  One of the first things I thought of when I heard about the flooding was the kitty that lives in the basement.  He jumped on to a pipe and is ok, thank goodness.

So I'm off to the musty gross basement to start moving stuff from the bin to the garbage.  *sigh*

So I'm still feeling awful, and so I'm calling off birthday burger night tomorrow- even if I am feeling better, I know I won't be able to handle the food or the atmosphere.  Maybe next year :(
miashell: (happy)
A big thank you to all my friends and loved ones who helped make this birthday one of the best I've had. :)
miashell: (love is)
The best part of my day is after the alarm goes off in the morning- we set it for a half hour before we need to be up, so that we can snooze it first for 20 minutes, and then for a final 10.   I used to be a jump out of bed at the first alarm sort of person, but Aimee has always been a snoozer.  I love waking up and then being able to snuggle close to her for a while before I have to start my day.  To have the sun stream down on us, the kitties curled at our feet, and her warm body against me is bliss.

Well, considering I starred in my high school musical my junior and senior years of high school, and that I met my wife (who was a theater major) while doing a show in college... this makes sense ;)

Your Result: Drama Nerd

You sure do love the spotlight and probably have a very out-going and loud personality. Or not. That's just a stereotype, of course. Participation in the theatre is something to be very proud of. Whether you have a great voice for musicals, or astounding skills for dramas/comedies; keep up the good work. We need more entertainment these days that isn't television and video games (not that these things are bad, necessarily.)

I passed my exam!

and now, on to the next...

Why is it that the night before I'm supposed to leave for a trip, I can never ever sleep? I laid awake for 3 hours, thinking "Camera, check. Contact solution, check. Bathing suit, check." Trying to shut off the brain.

Finally gave up around 4:30. I will sleep on the plane to San Diego tomorrow. So looking forward to a week of family (the girl's mom won the trip, and invited us) and sun and relaxing.  OtherMother is one of the most organized people I know, the sort that has a back-up plan for her backup plans- and so I am looking forward to just doing what she tells me to do for a week.  There are very few people I will give up that sort of power to, control freak that I am, and my mother-in-law is one of them.

I see... Sea World and the Zoo and Disneyland in my future. :)

And sleep. At *some* point.

Seven years ago we sat at a table in the dining hall, feasting a la Flik, and we decided (joint decision, as we are prone to) to make this date our official "dating anniversary"... it's that mixture of the ridiculous and the practical that I love so much about our relationship.  You have made me incredibly happy, and I am so glad we found each other. I'm looking forward to the next 7, and the next, and the next...
No itches for me. Or at least ones we can't scratch together :)

My uncle Joe passed away tonight. While it was not totally unexpected- he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer a while ago- it is still a shock. He was younger than my dad. I can't even imagine how my cousin Sean, his 22 y.o. son, is feeling.

Hey folks... [profile] jscrashad and I are going to watch the Grammy's at my apartment on Sunday night- would anyone like to join us? Send me an email or drop a comment :)
